A Chippendale Carved and Figured Mahogany Serpentine-Front Card Table. Philadelphia, 1770-1790.
28 ¾ in. high x 38 ½ in. wide, 18 ¾ in. deep. Some minor scratches, stains, and wear to highly-figured top. Small surface patch to left side of stationary top in knot. Small surface patch to center back edge of top board. Slight warping to top on left side. Brasses probably replaced but in original holes. Heavy wear to front edge of gadrooning. Some minor losses, bruises, and abrasions to molded edges on legs. Surface patch to bottom inside edge of left leg. Rear legs may have been fitted with L-shaped support brackets. Underside of drawer marked in chalk “L/ Lord.” Minor patches to cockbeading and small repairs and patches to bottom corners of drawer. Otherwise good condition.
