18 parts in 4 volumes (19 x 13 6/8 inches). Illustrated throughout with photogravure plates and other reproductions, many double-page, some folding, several mounted, of gardens throughout France. Contemporary half mottle calf, vinegar marbled paper boards, the spines in six compartments with five raised bands, red and green lettering-pieces in the second and third, the others decorated with fine gilt tools, original blue printed paper front wrappers bound in (lower cover of volume VI detached, extremities a little scuffed).

Provenance: with the early 20th-century bookplate of A.A. Rateau on the front paste-down.

Including issues for Autumn 1913; Spring, Summer and Winter of 1914; Spring 1920; and the annuals and bi-annuals for 1921; 1922; 1923; 1924; 1925; 1926-1927; 1928; 1929; 1930; 1931-1932; 1933-1934; 1935; 1936-1937. Publication was suspended during the Great War, from the Autumn of 1914 - the Autumn of 1919. A sumptuously produced garden periodical devoted almost exclusively to the history of the great French parklands, gardens and chateaux. It was produced by the Societe des Amateurs de Jardins in limited numbers, the later annuals issued in 300 copies only. It is lavishly illustrated and handsomely printed on fine paper.
